Description:

Black and white film footage taken by Harry Lewis, employee of the Yukon Consolidated Gold Corporation (YCGC), a gold mining company. Film footage was taken between 1931 and 1932 and includes shots of: a man by the name of Hughes using a fishweel to catch salmon in the Yukon River; Hughes' shack located across the Yukon River from Dawson; Moosehide, a First Nations village three miles north of Dawson; racks of drying fish; a method for cutting and drying fish; a barge being pushed by a steamboat; loading wood for the boilers; Harry Lewis with a young Anglican clergyman travelling down river to Fairbanks, Alaska; a dog team in Dawson; Fort Yukon within the Arctic Circle, Fort Yukon vegetables; the Anglican Minister, Bob Cathcart; and Fairbanks and locals.

1. Reel six of nine reels.~2. Description based on transcripts provided by donor. Transcripts taken from interview with Mrs. Hilda Lewis, conducted by Arnold E. Roos for research on the S.S. Klondike II restoration project.~3. Hilda Lewis was unable to identify locales and individuals in several scenes throughout the film.~4. The film, with others, was used in the production of the National Film Board of Canada's short film, entitled IN THE DAYS OF THE RIVERBOATS, available for consultation at the National Library of Canada.
