Film about the return to Canada and welcome home given to men of the Princess Patricia's Light Infantry Regiment (PPCLI) after the end of the First World War. The Governor General, the Duke of Devonshire, shakes hands with men of the Regiment in Ottawa. Sequence on the regiment parading down Sparks Street in Ottawa. Regimental band walking towards and past camera, followed by rifle-bearing infantry. Men pass by camera, followed by young boys who tag alongside. Civilian men march alongside and behind the Regiment flag. Close-up of portrait of Princess Patricia. Longshot of troopship Carmania being towed up Saint Lawrence River by tugboats. Shots of Carmania passing the camera as soldiers cheer on her decks. Pan of soldiers on crowded deck. Colonel Hamilton Gault, limping from war wounds, leads his men down the gangplank. Soldiers board a Canadian National Railways train bound for Ottawa. Train approaching Ottawa Union Station, under the Laurier Avenue Bridge. Motion picture cameraman to right of frame as train passes. Shot inside Ottawa Union Station where a welcome home sign is visible. The Mayor and city officials are on the welcoming platform. PPCLI marching into station and leave station. Crowds of citizens line the route as the PPCLI marches to Army Headquarters to deposit the regimental colours. <6mn 48s>
