Propaganda documentary in support of the 7th U.S. War Loan Drive: the story of how the American 81st "Wildcat" Infantry Division captured the Pacific island Angaur at the price of much spilled blood. U.S. troops on leave surfing on boards and playing basketball in the sun in Hawaii in July 1944. General Richardson, commanding officer of Pacific Ocean area orders embarkation. Sequences on men boarding ship, whiling away time with band concerts, boxing bouts, shows, church services, etc. At Guadalcanal, they go through a landing exercise. Carrier planes take off from an aircraft carrier on way to Angaur. Invasion of Angaur on September 17, 1944. A naval bombardment follows, then Grumman Avengers strafe the enemy. Gun camera footage of strafing. Troops are landed in amphibian vehicles and clear the beach head with machine guns and flame throwers. Shots of Japanese corpses and U.S. casualties. General Robert Miller comes up for an inspection. Troops relaxing, clear up a landing strip with bulldozers. Tanks clear diehard defenders from a high point. Medics collect U.S. casualties and treat them in field hospital. Mortar detachments finish the job. Close-ups of Japanese dead. Propaganda message follows. The film is told by "one of the men" as he expounds his feelings about the war, the Japanese, and his buddies. <28mn 38s>
