Mrs. Littleton is dressed up for a fancy dress ball hosted by Lord and Lady Dufferin on February 23, 1876.

Her costume was described in the Toronto Globe on February 24, 1876 (pg 3), which reads: "Wore a petticoat of amber satin; train, black silver velvet, with revers of amber satin, bordered with two rows of gold; a hat of black velvet; yellow plume; ornaments, diamond and gold."

Although the Earl of Dufferin's Grand Fancy Ball took place on February 23, 1876, photographs of costumed individuals and groups were taken after the event itself. While the majority were taken in February and March, some of the guests were also photographed in April.
