Recording consists of original sound rolls used in the production of the documentary film STARTING FIRE WITH GUNPOWDER. Recording includes an interview with James Kavana, Inuit elder and former producer with the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (IBC). Subjects discussed include Kavana's understanding of the English language, where he learned to speak English, his early education, loss of the Inuktitut language, and his work for the IBC.
