Description:

Recording consists of original sound rolls used in the production of the documentary film THE LEARNING PATH. Recording begins with wild track of wind recorded for prairie shots outside Eva Cardinal's family home. Follows with Eva Cardinal's conversation with her elder sister, and Mary, her niece. Mary speaks of her experiences as a student at Blue Quills mission residential school when it was located in Saddle Lake Reserve. Together the three women speak of their childhood memories. <45mn>

1. Tape speed is 7 ½ ips.~2. Tape labels identify title as "The Learning World", the original working title. THE LEARNING PATH is the final release title.~3. THE LEARNING PATH is one of a five-part documentary series entitled AS LONG AS THE RIVERS FLOW.~4. Segments of the recording contain "wild" noise interspersed with the reminiscence.~5. Conversation/reminiscence with Mary begins near end of sound reel 60.~6. Interview is preceded by interview with Phyllis Cardinal. See ISN 341007 for description of interview with Phyllis Cardinal.~7. Recording of conversation/reminiscence ends approximately 1 minute into sound reel 63.
