Film opens with a scene depicting a mother preparing her young daughter for bed. Once the mother leaves the bedroom, the little girl pulls out a puzzle box onto the bed and plays with the pieces. The puzzle pieces suddenly become animated and move about on the bed on their own, forming different pictures that come to life within the puzzle frame. The first picture shows a bull grazing in a field, followed by pictures of a fruit display, a cat, and a rabbit. The latter three images break the barrier separating the world of the puzzle frame and the world of the little girl, allowing her to pick out and eat a banana from the fruit display, and the cat and rabbit to leave the frame and walk into the girl's arms. A picture of a monkey follows but when the little girl tries to give it her half-eaten banana, the picture breaks up. The puzzle pieces scramble again to form the image of a clown, who leaps out of the puzzle frame in miniaturized form to entertain the little girl. Finally, the pieces reform to show a roaring lion that causes the girl to scream for her mother. The mother re-enters the room and breaks the spell of the puzzle, scolding her daughter for not sleeping and then turns out the light, ending the entire spectacle. <7mn 52s>
