Described by the RECON project.

Attributions and conjectures:

Captions from the nitrate negative envelope acquired from the donor read: "Wharf at Entry Island, Magdelen Islands, Que., 1940." Further research shows that Entry Island (Ile d'Entrée) is a small isolated island, with approximately 100 inhabitants (as per May 2019). Its fishing port does not have the infrastructure shown in the photograph of Clifford M. Johnston and could accommodate only small fishing boats and not large navigation vessels. Therefore, it is believed that this photograph was taken in Grande Entrée Island and not in Entry Island (Ile d'Entrée).
