Biography of Canadian cinematographer Dick Bird who immigrated to the United States when he was a teenager and moved to Canada in 1913 where he worked as a cameraman. Using film footage shot by Bird and others, as well as interviews of Bird, his second wife Ada and Dr. S. Houston, the film covers Bird's years as a cameraman for Pathescope of Canada making films about agriculture, mining and other educational subjects, his work in Regina for Pathescope on behalf of the provincial government of Saskatchewan, his decision to move to Regina because the dry climate helped his first wife cope with her asthma, his formation of Regina Films Limited and his taking over the contract Pathescope had with the Saskatchewan government, his making a film about immigrants from Ruthenia and Galicia and how the government was helping them integrate into life in the province, his work in all aspects of film production, including developing and printing the film, making titles, and writing the script, his getting into wildlife photography, his weekly radio program Camera Trails, the trips he took with his second wife Ada to make wildlife films and give screenings and lectures throughout North America, their work for Disney, his getting an award at the Yorkton International Film Festival and his view that film should be entertaining. <28mn>
