A look at the history of the Canadian postal system. With a strong historical point of view, this film attempts to bridge the past and present of this country's postal delivery system. There are reconstructed scenes of postal delivery in Upper and Lower Canada. The evolution of various means of transportation are examined to show how mail was delivered. An important section of this document deals with the development of the postage stamp in Canada - in printing and in use. Finally, the mail sorting process is clarified. Some noteworthy pictorials are: an antique postage stamp printing machine; steam engine trains puffing down track; labourers laying track in the old days (turn of century); paddle wheelers flowing down rivers; varous commemorative stamps celebrating 100 years of Canadian postal service are on display; a post office in an arctic settlement is entered - it's an igloo. <16mn>
