1. In 1920 Ernest Walter Stedman came to Canada and served as chief technical officer of the Air Board and later the Canadian Air Force, 1920-24. In April 1924, he joined the newly formed RCAF as Air/Vice MArshall, and held a succession of senior engineering positions in the service until his retirement in 1946. He represented the Government at the Bikini atomic bomb tests in 1946 and from 1946 to 1955 was a professor of mechanical engineering at Carleton University, Ottawa.
