News item stories on the following:~Buzz Beurling Returns to Canada. 10 November 1942. RCAF hero arrives at Rockcliffe, Ottawa, greeted by parents and his small brother. Prime Minister Mackenzie King praises his contribution to the honour of his country and Beurling responds with a tribute to his parents.~Canada Receives Gift Bridge for Alaska Highway. Ribbon-cutting ceremony opening the Peace River Bridge on the Alaska Highway, a gift to Canada from the United States. Officiating are US Senator [Stugholm] and British Columbia Minister of Public Works, Mr. Anscombe. The commentary is by Lowell Thomas.~Fighter Sweeps. A PATHE GAZETTE item opening with a statement by Head of the British Fighter Command, Air Marshal Sir William Sholto Douglas, about new British initiatives in the air. Royal Air Force planes are welcomed back to the base after an enemy raid. Item with commentary.~Spitfire MK1. Wear gas masks, RAF pilots race to board their aircraft. Air-to-air shots of Spitfires flying in formation exercise. A pilot is seen being strapped into the cockpit. A Spitfire is shown taxiing before takeoff. Some sequences are repeated. The item is silent.~Lester B. Pearson. Minister Plenipotentiary in the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC, talks about the role of UNRRA (United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Adminstration) and of the build-up of an international structure for peace.
