General note:

Described by the RECON project.
The regiment was named the 66th The Halifax Battalion of Infantry on November 5, 1869. Originally consisting of six companies, it later gained two more. On November 14, 1879, the regiment was renamed the 66th Battalion "Princess Louise" Fusiliers, named for Princess Louise, daughter of Queen Victoria and wife of the Marquess of Lorne.
The North-West Rebellion (or North-West Resistance) was a five-month insurgency against the Canadian government, fought mainly by the Métis and their First Nations allies.
