Third in a six-part series exploring the work and activities of home economists in developing countries. With Program Three narrator May Maskow looks at how home economists in Toronto have worked with fellow professionals in fourteen Carribean countries to produce home economic textbooks stressing nutritional health education, and home economics and management that reflect the Caribbean way of life. Individuals who have worked on the textbook are asked to speak for themselves.~Maskow interviews Gwendolyn Tonge, past President of the Caribbean Association, who speaks of where the fourteen member countries are located, the advantages of twinning projects, the writing of the text and the highs and lows involved.~Maskow interviews Sadie Campbell, a consultant with the Food and Nutrition Institute in Jamaica, who speaks to the availability of food and food habits as they relate to different ethnic groups in the fourteen Caribbean countries, the reasons why the Caribbean home economists wanted textbooks produced in the Caribbean, and the agricultural economists relationship to the textbook.~Maskow interviews Pat Malone, Co-Chairman of the International Development Committee of Toronto Home Economics Association, speaks of Toronto's twinning with the Caribbean, the stages following the completion of a questionnaire used toward the development of the textbook, the creation of the illustrations for the text, and the positive results of a twinning project from a Canadian perspective.~Maskow interviews Barbara Floyd, Co-Chair of the Toronto Home Economics Association International Development Committee, speaks to the first stages in the development of the textbooks, the first stages in the development of a questionnaire, and the needs of the people identified by the questionnaire.~Maskow interviews Rubye Gayle, part of the team that wrote the Family Living Section of the text, who speaks to her experiences with the questionnaire on lifestyle, and the outcome of the twinning project from a Jamaican perspective.~In conclusion Gayle and Tonge summarize the positive effects of and their feelings with regard to the text books.~The program closes with information concerning the program schedule, program synopsis and production information. <28mn>
