McKee to DePeyster. Report of two unsuccessful attacks by Indians on Wheeling and asmall fort between it and Beaver Creek. Capture of a prisoner belonging to an army of 1,200 men on the march to attack the Huron villages. Themeasures taken to resist the enemy. 26th September, two escaped to Fort Pitt. Delawares reported the arrival of Irvinewith five hundredmore troops; he is to meet Clark at the Shawanese villages. It will be difficult to collect Indians sufficient to oppose this army.
