Powell to Haldimand. Affairs settled with the Indians; will not now bring up matters indispute. The exaggerated statement of the number of the Six Nations that can be raised. The utmost is 600 warriors, who are now employed.Gives reasons in detail for not allowing Joseph (Brant) to go to Oswego. Has stated in his letter of the 13th the number of Indians who went toOswego; these, with those who went unsolicited to Fort Pitt, afford proof that the Indians are still staunch. Has, at the request ofthe Indians, christenedtheir village the "Loyal Confederate Valley". Arrival of Indians at Oswego; complaints that they were not provided with powder, ball andmoccasins; Butler says they were well provided with everything. Brant is reported as being a great expense to Government.
