Footage shot for a documentary entitled MR. PEARSON, about Lester B. Pearson. It shows: Pearson sitting at his desk in his Centre Block office; Jim Coutts, his appointments secretary, coming in and telling him where a committee meeting will be; Pearson reading newspaper about longshoremen's strike; Pearson leaving Centre Block and walking with Coutts to the East Block; at this point there is wild sound but no image; visuals and sound continue with Pearson going over speech notes; Coutts goes over notes and asks about the Canadian Club speech; Kent coming into his office. Next is footage shot on 7 October 1963: at 24 Sussex Drive, Pearson leaving for work, calling of his driver, getting into his car and chatting on the drive to work about the traffic and his expectation that it will be an exciting week in the House of Commons. Pearson asks the film crew when it will begin to process the footage. Pearson arriving on Parliament Hill (no footage of this, just sound). This is followed by footage of a meeting between Pearson, J.W. Pickersgill, Mitchell Sharp, Allan MacEachen and others in his East Block office, about economics. They talk about: settling the dock strike; the trusteeship; Sharp having talked to Peter C. Newman about a story; the supply bill; John Diefenbaker; Pearson's worry about the Créditistes' attempt at a filibuster; Pearson advising MacEachen to have several drafts of legislation ready for cabinet; Pickersgill's views on the shortcomings of similar legislation in the past; measures the Liberals should take to prevent the filibuster; and Pearson's prediction that the Progressive Conservatives will not support the Créditistes. The sound track ends and the reel ends with visuals of the men leaving the office. A clock shows the time as 9:40 a.m.
