Description:

Documentary on the role and function of the Canada Council. It includes a statement by Dr. Claude Bissell, Chairman of the Canada Council, and a discussion with playwright Len Peterson and poet Anthony Frisch. Dr. A.W. Trueman, Director of the Canada Council and program host, introduces film sequences of Canadians who have recently received grants. Seen are: Susan Davies, at the Royal Ballet School in London; Fleurange Cornier and Marcelle Ferron in Paris; musician Jack Groob in Israel; researcher Hugh MacLean in Japan; pianist Peter Norris in London; and the Montreal Bach Choir touring Japan. Also there are interviews with former grant recipients: Father M.N. Sheehan, Dr. W.E. Lambert, Dr. J. Lambeck, and Dr. J.N. Emerson.
