Le ministre à M. l'abbé Gaulin. Le roi ayant cédé l'Acadie et Terreneuve à l'Angleterre, s'est déterminé à faire un établissement au Cap-Breton. Il s'est réservé, il est vrai, "le droit de faire la pêche sur toutes les côtes de Terreneuve, mais la différence qu'il y a d'une pêche fixe à une tolérance l'y a déterminé à faire un établissement ailleurs". Espère qu'il ira conférer avec M. de Saint-Ovide sur la question d'engager les habitants de l'Acadie, et même les sauvages, à se fixer au Cap-Breton. Ne sait si ces habitants ont prêté serment de fidélité depuis le 16 octobre dernier, dans ce cas, il faudrait traiter l'affaire sans bruit. N'écrit point aux Pères Justinien et Bonaventure, de crainte que ses lettres ne les atteignent pas.
