Unedited out-takes about the manufacture of the CF-105 fighter aircraft by Avro Aircraft Limited. A set of intertitles later in the footage identifies some of the activities shown. It begins with leader which reads M29-16, Core 1: The footage shows: machinery two men put a large piece of sheet metal (aluminum) on a roller to curve it and then they carry it away; view of the shop floor; worker at the controls of an apparatus; worker brushing a roller or cylinder that is part of manufacturing equipment; two workers climb down a ladder; more views of men working on aircraft parts; man overhead; opening up doors; man going down ladder; turning a valve on a pipe or tube; man climbing back up; exterior shot of airplane on runway, with snow on the ground; the plane, probably a model or prototype, takes off; a propeller plane takes off or lands; more shots of man working in factory; views of apparatus or other type of material overhead (footage is too dark to identify this); leader at approximately 74 minutes into the reel, listing the number 20-16; men outside with an apparatus, with a large yellow truck in the background identified by the following painted on it: Avro Aircraft Malton Ontario Telemetry Unit; men moving large parts into position on a factory floor; pulley being lowered; more shots of workers; a large part being hoisted up; more shots of the part; the part being moved overhead, moved over to another location and then lowered; more shots of workers with various aircraft parts; manoeuvring parts into place; leader identifying the next set of shots as M29-16, Core 2; multiple shots of parts being moved overhead and then lowered; worker with a part being raised, moved and lowered into a large wooden box; more shop floor scenes; workers up on a scaffold, working on what appears to be part of the fuselage; close-up of a test being conducted with a tub of bubbling water; water bubbling through a grate; more shots of men doing assembly work, possibly on aircraft models or prototypes; men working on models in the background; men working at a desk and then moving over to some equipment (footage is dark and hard to discern); another apparatus; man working on a long metal tube in a shop; more shots of people at work on the shop floor; shot of upper part of the shop floor; scaffolding; pan up to what appears to be an airplane, showing scaffolding and a man up on a ladder; man climbs down; close-up of sign warning danger – 27,000 volts; more dark scenes inside factory; two women workers soldering; slate which reads CF105 Progress Take 1 Scene 1; shot of various parts; woman attaching wires to a part; slate which reads “This Film Is Classified”, followed by a slate which reads “Secret”; followed by slate which reads “Confidential”; dark footage of workers on shop floor; a large flat piece being lowered and then a hook being raised; workers chatting as they stand in front of what appears to be a boiler; intertitles made to look like pages being turned, which read: CF-105 Progress Report; Mock-ups and Models (some of the intertitles are repeated); Full-Scale Fuselage; Quarter-Scale Undercarriage; Single Seat Cockpit and Canopy Reflectors; Wind Tunnel Model; Free Flight Model; Testing of Systems and Structures; Armament Development; Production Preparation; Scheme and Production Drawings; Template Reproductions; Master Models; and Sub-Contract. This is followed by an intertitle that is meant to be at the conclusion of the final edit of the film: “This film has shown the progress which has been made on the development of the CF-105 to the present time. As their aircraft develops our cameras will continue to record its progress.” This is followed by more unedited footage of the manufacturing process: man working on wooden framework; man wearing a lab coat uses equipment to test a part; workers appear to be machining small metal parts; parts on a conveyor move in and out of larger equipment; multiple shots of this; several shots of a man at the controls. Next is a leader which says M29-17 Core 1.
