The front of the building is shown as cars arrive and people emerge from them; a Guard of Honour marches past; His Excellency the Duke of Devonshire, Governor-General of Canada arrives in a carriage. Inside the chamber, people are shown entering and being seated; everyone stands as the Honourable Gentlemen of the Senate, led by Colonel Chambers Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, enter the room; new members enter, followed by the Justices of the Supreme Court. Finally, the Governor-General enters and sits in the throne; the camera tilts up to show the crowded gallery sitting above.
