LS. The writer describes the state of religion in the Detroit area, where the local Catholics (Indians, French-Canadians and Irish) have been left without missionaries since the suppression of the Jesuits [brief Dominus ac Redemptor, 21 July 1773]. The efforts of the Protestants in establishing schools and their success with the Indians is also dealt with. Richard and the Mackinaw settlement, beetween Lake Huron and Lake Michigan, is mentioned. [The balance of this item deals with the United States].
