AM ("22") entitled "Observations sur la bénédiction de l'église,, &c. &c," in four paragraphs. [1-2] A very detailed account of the blessing and the consecration of the church of [Notre-Dame-de-] Montréal. The trustees did not want the bp. of Telmissus [Lartigue] to consecrate their church, could not convince the [a]bp. of Québec [Panet] or his coadjutor [Signay] to consecrate it, but induced Roux to bless the church in the early morning [of 7 June 1829] and with the knowledge of only five or six [recte four] Sulpicians [Malard, Richards, Sattin, Sauvage de Chatillonet]. When informed of Roux's action, Roque, vicar general of the diocese, invited the bp. of Telmissus to celebrate the first solemn mass in the new church on 15 July.

The bp. accepted, but then he wrote to Rome showing suspicions on the Sulpicians's real intentions. [3] The dispute over the position of parish priest of Montréal, mentioning Le Saulnier, Richards and [N.] Dufresne, their knowledge of English and French, and Le Saulnier [recte Richards'] journey to Europe. [4] The Montréal Seminary challenges the bp. of Telmissus's accusation that they want to receive a new superior from France. Note (this item is to be read with item marked "L").
