C. The writer acknowledges the addressee's letters [to Plessis] of 28 August, 13 November [1825], 10 and 31 January, [and to Panet of] 12 March [1826]. He is saddened by the decision made by PF [in the CG of 30 January 1826; see Acta 139] on the dispute between Lartigue and the Sulpician Seminary of Montréal, and doubts whether [Della Somaglia's] letter [to Panet] of 26 March [1826; see SOCG 460] in which the decision was announced was ever shown to the addressee. Yet the Superior of the Seminary [Roux] left Montréal for health reasons, and rumours are that the Sulpicians were disavowed. As for the obligation to suggest a slate of three candidates for the coadjutorship to the bishopric of Québec, this will empower the [British] government to select its own candidate.

The addressee is asked to verify whether a letter [Della Somaglia to Roux, 26 March 1826; see SOCG 461] was sent to the Sulpicians, and to obtain the faculty to ordain ad titulum missionis. PF notes.
