C. The writer acknowledges the addressee's letter of 16 August [1826; see Varia 230] and rejoices at the progress of religion in his diocese. The writer encloses Leo XII's R [of the audience granted to Caprano on 17 December 1826; see Varia 229], granting him the Jubilee from Septuagesima Sunday [11 February] 1827 through Septuagesima Sunday [3 February] 1828. Furthermore, the addressee will soon receive 500 Roman scudi through his procurator, Gradwell. He is also informed that he is allowed to send two young students to Collegio Urbano by way of New York. They must be just over their fifteenth year, and be willing to become priests and minister in the mission whence they came.
