LS. The writer encloses a letter written by the bp. of Telmissus [Lartigue], vicar apostolic [recte vicar general] in Montréal, [for the Holy See; see SOCG 417] that was forwarded by the [a]bp. of Québec [Plessis], and recalls Poynter's letter of 21 August 1821 [to Fontana; see SOCG 410] and the bp. of Québec's letter of 25 June 1821 [to Fontana; see SOCG 424]. The writer never saw the mandement [of 20 February 1821; see SOCG 318] mentioned by the [a]bp. of Québec. PF S [of SOCG 417] ("The reason is that in the apostolic briefs faculties are granted to last even after the abp. [Plessis]'s death, as if they derive from the Holy See"). Re PF [i.e., Fontana]'s answer [to Lartigue] of 15 December 1821 [see Lettere 129]. Bs: fol. 743v, 747r.
