M. Instruction dealing with the letter that is to be written to the bp. of Québec [Plessis]. The bp. must be asked [1] what are the duties of the members of the Legislative Council [of Lower Canada], and whether they also have jurisdiction over religious and ecclesiastical matters; [2] whether its members must take any oath; [3] whether its members must publicly pray or take any part in religious cerimonies; [4] whether the participation of a Catholic bp. in a Protestant body might be the reason for scandal.
