Men and women dressed in bathing costumes are seen "greasing up" and joking with each other. A pan of the shore of the lake shows crowds and the Canadian National Exhibition buildings in the background. The swimmers are seen lined up at the starting line and then diving into the water. An intertitle reads: "Guided by the ringing of a bell an heroic [sic] blind swimmer struggled along for nine long miles". The viewer is shown a swimmer following behind a rowboat. At the front of the race are the "swimming aces" Young, Vierkoetter and Ross; Young is hard pressed by Vierkoetter.
