Lettre de La Jonquière au ministre - Paul Marin de La Malgue a rétabli l'union entre les nations de la baie des Puants et les Sioux; il a distribué des présents et décoré plusieurs chefs de la médaille du roi; cet officier n'a trouvé chez les Folles Avoines et Puants aucun des mauvais sujets qui avaient coutume de s'y réfugier: il leur a demandé de ne plus en recevoir (réponse de ces Indiens); une grande partie des Puants sont allés en guerre contre les Missouris: souhaite qu'à leur retour Marin les détermine à faire la paix (promesse de La Mothe, chef folle-avoine); d'autres partis devaient aller attaquer les Missouris mais Marin, avec l'aide d'un chef folle-avoine, a pu les arrêter (détails); un Outaouais et un Sauteux de Michillimakinac ayant apporté de l'eau-de-vie anglaise à la baie, Marin en a saisi les barils: fait part de son mécontentement à Duplessis Faber pour qu'il en informe les Indiens de Michillimakinac; un Sioux des Prairies, qui avait tué un Français nommé Marin Urtubize, a été chassé par sa nation, etc (détails); Marin a été bien reçu chez les Sioux: ces Indiens, qui sont en paix avec les Sauteux, Folles Avoines et d'autres nations, lui ont remis le fils d'un chef christinaux qu'ils détenaient depuis quelques années mais ce jeune homme n'a pas voulu retourner chez les siens (Marin tentera de le renvoyer à Jacques Legardeur de Saint-Pierre); espère que les Sioux feront la paix avec les Christinaux; Marin n'a pu aller dans le haut du Mississipi et jusqu'à sa source parce que les nations de la baie et les Sioux descendus à Montréal sont revenus fort tard et que le bruit courait qu'on avait retenu des Sioux à Montréal pour les faire mourir (alarme causée par cette rumeur, etc); au retour des Sioux, Marin partit "pour aller faire les découvertes...mais les glaces l'arrêtèrent et il fut obligé d'hiverner au lac Papin"; cet officier a promis de reprendre la route cette année: les Sioux doivent l'accompagner et lui ont recommandé d'attendre que Saint-Pierre ait tranquillisé les nations qui sont sur le Mississipi; a chargé Marin de découvrir une mine de cuivre qu'on dit être à la rivière de Bon Secours; "quoique les nations de la baie aient été bien dérangées, les voyageurs n'ont pas laissé que d'y bien traiter leurs marchandises".
