C. The Recollet Reuter, arrived in Baltimore two years before welcomed by the bp. of Baltimore [Carroll], who employed him for the German community, later opposed the bp., went to Germany and to Rome, where he managed to convince Brancadoro of his views. Back in the United States, Reuter was again refused his faculties by the bp., but continued to minister to the German community. The addressee is requested to report to Brancadoro on the true state of the matter. A declaration of all parish priests and coadjutors is enclosed. B: 120v.
