Upon request of the bp. of Québec, J.-F. Hubert [in his letter of 12 June 1794; see SOCG 718], the Pope [Pius VI] appointed Denaut as his coadjutor, to replace the late bp. of Capsa, Bailly de Messein [who died on 20 May 1794]. The addressee will find enclosed the [R of the] audience [granted by Pius VI to L. Antonelli on 2 or 11 Sep. 1794; see Varia 360]. He is requested to send the appropriate brief when informed by the Pro-Auditor to the Pope, Roverella, of the title in partibus of the new coadjutor.
