The addressee's letter of 5 May [1791] is acknowledged. Given the current troubles in France, it is normal that so many priests request to be assigned to foreign missions. The writer hopes that the Séminaire des Missions-Étrangères will avoid destruction; he points out that the Séminaire never enjoyed the right to appoint vic.s ap.. A letter [see Lettere 392] for the bp. of Québec [J.-F. Hubert] is enclosed, which answers the bp.'s doubts about the reduction of holidays. [The balance of this item deals with Coromandel].
