The writer agrees with the addressee's letter of 15 [recte 5] [Sep. 1763; see C 65], that it is necessary to know the attitude of the Court of London before anything can be done for the state of religion in Canada. He is requested to keep PF informed about the matter and gather information from La Corne [de Chaptes], when the latter writes or goes to Paris; the [former] bp. of Québec [Dosquet] was written to [see Lettere 163]. The project that is taking shape in the Court of Paris, which aims at replacing regulars with secular priests in the American colonies the writer says is very dangerous.
