The addressee's predecessor, the abp. of Cosenza [Sanfelice], reported [on 17 Aug. 1659; see SOCG 188] that the Catholic merchants of the New Netherlands in America [recte Asia] had requested a missionary, and that a good ecclesiastic [van der Patten] had offered to send a Dutch missionary at his own expenses; PF had been asked for the necessary faculties. A B commission for the missionary is enclosed, and the addressee is to fill in the missionary's name, which he will receive from van der Patten.
