M. Through the Secretary of State [Zelada], the N. in Spain [F. Casoni] asks [in his letter of 22 June 1796; see C 380] that Micheau, a French emigré priest, be appointed missionary ap. in the 13 United Provinces of America. Micheau is also recommended by the bp. of Sigüenza [Díaz de la Guerra], the ordinary of Micheau's diocese [see C 381]. PF notes (similar patent granted [at the audience granted by Pius VI on 16 May 1796; see Varia 328] to Maraval and Verlhac, under the jurisdiction of the bp. of Baltimore, Carroll). At the audience [granted by Pius VI] on 12 July 1796, the Pope orders the decree to be sent. Signed by the abp. of Nisibis [Brancadoro]. Bs: 710v-711r.
