LS. The writer is in favour of the concession of the requested [see SOCG 486, 488] faculties to the bp. [of Samos, Dosquet], coadjutor of the bp. of Québec [Duplessis de Mornay]. The bp. of Québec never went to his diocese, and (as testified by the Séminaire de Saint-Sulpice of Paris) Dosquet's predecessors simply acted without specific faculties. A detailed description of Canada, where the writer has travelled extensively, follows. The following places are described or mentioned: Newfoundland, Acadia; Labrador; the territories of the Iroquois, the Hurons, the Algonquins and the Illinois; the Mississippi valley; Québec, Ville-Marie, Trois-Rivières, Nouvelle-Orléans.
