Thom Benson interviews Norn Garriock, CBC Assistant General Manager, TV, English Services Division. Garriock discusses: his early employment; his navy career; his decoration for action in the North Sea; his education at Guelph University; his first job with CBC, FOOD FACTS AND FOOD FASHIONS, later NEWS ROUNDUP; his organization of Farm Writers' Association and the Cowhide Trophy Competition; his preparation of a half hour pilot kinescope for the introduction of television in 1952 called COUNTRY CALENDAR; difficulty in the Farm Department, resistance to promotion; incident involving DeGaulle's arrival in Montreal; and his association with affiliates which was a love/hate relationship. <2h 5mn 20s>
