C. A report on Canada and its Indian nations (Montagnais, Algonquins, Iroquois, Hurons, Neutrals, Sorcerers), with many details on flora, fauna, ways of life, geography. Sagard, Le Caron, La Roche Daillon are mentioned. Cdl. Richelieu [A.-J. Du Plessis] has now ordered the Recollets to return to Canada ¨this year.¨ The Recollet mission was authorized by [G.] Bentivoglio on behalf of Paul V in 1611 [recte 20 Mar. 1618; see SOCG 248]; two years previously [1632], the Jesuits were sent back to Canada, where they had shared the convent of Saint-Charles with the Recollets. The addressee should now regulate the new mission, the members of which are shortly to embark.
