ALS. The writer is shortly to leave for America in the ship of a Genoese captain [Maurizio?]; two Capuchins [André de Paris, Jean-Baptiste de Tonnerre] will go with Baron Dormeilles [Le Charon]. He suggests that the Pope [Innocent X], like any other king, take under his own jurisdiction a portion of Africa or America, and suggests Les Saintes; this is guaranteed by a letter of 11 Sep. 1646 [see SOCG 155, 160] of the Queen [of France, Anne d'Autriche]; the commission, whose suggested Df is given, could be written in the name of Damon, former lieutenant general of the Viceroy in America [F.-C. de Lévis], brother of Ventadour [C. de Lévis]. The geographical position of Les Saintes is described. B: 65v.
