ALS. When the Capuchin General [Giovanni da Moncalieri], against the will of the King [of France, Louis XIII], of the cdl. [A.-J. Du Plessis], of the N. [in France, Bolognetti], of the Comte de Brassac [Gallard de Béarn] and of Léonard de Paris removed the writer from his congr. [Congrégation pour la Propagation de la Foi, then Sodalité de l'Exaltation de la Sainte-Croix], he asked to be sent to Canada. Unless otherwise directed by PF before 20 Mar. [1639], when he is due to embark, he is ready to accept the position as superior of the mission of ¨New France and Florida and Virginia¨ that his General has offered to him. PF S. Df of PF answer of 8 Mar. [1639] (Hyacinthe's acceptance is to be commended).
