The image is from a grangerized volume of Bigsby's 1850 publication The Shoe and Canoe, to which Bigsby added or inserted drawings, maps and prints as well as many annotations., This map may have been the work of John Adams, civil engineer, active in Quebec ca. 1819-1837, who is mentioned in Mary Allodi's book on early printmaking in Canada.

Removed from: Publication: In Bigsby, John J., "The shoe and canoe, or, Pictures of travel in the Canadas..., London: Chapman and Hall, 1850, vol. 2, glued down to verso of p. ix. P. ix recto is the list of illustrations for the volume, which lists in letterpress the presence of 2 maps and%maps and and 13 plates; but ink annotations list an additional map, 23 additional illustrations, and 18 vignettes.
