Item is an illustrated World War I Christmas/New Year's greeting card with the printed insignia of the 48th Highlanders Regiment of Canada on the outside cover (uncoated light card). The cover encloses a folded inside page/flap (coated wove paper) bearing a printed message (left open facing page of the flap) opposite a printed reproduction of a photographic image depicting the members of the regiment's 1st Battalion. Both parts of the card are secured together with a multicoloured ribbon (i.e. light green and dark green separated by a narrow red stripe)

Signatures and inscriptions note:

Inscribed., Inscription: in blue printing ink on the outside front cover, recto, c.: the circular shaped insignia of the 48th Highlanders bearing an outer inscription "DILEAS GU BRATH" which, in turn, encloses the words "48/HIGHLANDERS" surmounted by the head of an eagle; in black printing ink on the inside flap opposite the illustration page, recto, t.c. to b.c.: For the Past--/ Remembrance. /For the Present-- / Best Wishes. / For the Future-- / Good Luck. // A Merry Christmas / and / A Happy New Year; / b.l.: 1st Battalion, / England; in pen with blue ink, b.c.: Bill Beatty
