Description:

First of three reels of a film about efforts to use parasites to battle the European Corn Borer. Corn, the 3rd most important crop grown in Ontario, surpasses fall wheat production by over one million dollars as is one of the main staples of the Ontarian consumer. The European corn borer, first discovered in Elgin county and now spreading rapidly, is turning bountiful harvests into total wastes. The female moth lays 3000-5000 eggs on the corn itself, and the larvae circulate through the corn on which they feed.

1. 1927 Catalogue description: "This picture shows the creature throughout its life history - hatching from the egg - as a larva feeding on stalk and cob - in the pupal stage and as a moth laying its eggs to start a new generation.
