Image depicting a homestead on the banks of the St. Lawrence. The view includes a fairly detailed representation of a house and adjoining buildings. The land in front of the house bustles with activity: women cooking, children playing, people driving carriages and carts, etc. A raft seems to be floating on the water in the foreground., Capt. Michael Seymour was an officer on the HMS Vindictive. He sailed to Halifax in 1845.

General note:

Removed from: Album: This item is part of a sketchbook which was dismantled. It carries page number 29.

Note on the state of conservation:

The work is in fairly good condition. Glue applied to the four corners of the support has traversed the paper and created noticeable stains. The secondary support is brown around the edges and slightly frayed.
