In 1831 Peter Jones, also known in Ojibway as Sacred Feathers or Sacred Waving Feathers, travelled to England on behalf of the Methodistt Conference to raise funds for Indian missions. While still in England in 1832, his sister Matilda Jones, who apparently accompanied him, did a miniature of him (now in the Peter Jones collection, Fonds Number F17, at the Victoria University Library, University of Toronto, along with a painting of his wife, Eliza Field.) This print is based on Matilda Jones' portrait and may have been published in the Methodist Magazine (London,) ca. 1832. See R9266-2844, R9266-2846, and R9266-2845 for other copies of this print.
