The film documents the Niagara River canal system. The following inter-title appears after the head title; "Queenston-Chippawa Power Development owned by the municipalities of the Niagara District and operated on their behalf by the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario." Inter-title: "On the 28th of December, 1921, the Chippawa Power Canal was officially put into commission - This will be a memorable date in the annals of the Province of Ontario, for it marked the attainment of an object long desired." Inter-title: "When this picture was made, December 1923, the Canal was consuming two-thirds of its entire allotment from the Niagara River - Still, there is this amount of 'Liquid Power' running wild over the Horse-Shoe Falls." Shot of the falls, followed by inter-title: "We will now trace the Canal from its source - This map shows the position of the Canal relative to the Niagara River." The film continues with a shot of the 'intake', and shots of the Welland River, and Bridge. The film uses the point of view of the camera as it traverses the Canal from the intake to the Bridge and control gate. End of part one. <5mn 20s>
