This print may be a label from a hat or a hat box. The top half of the print shows two men making a hat over a steamer, one flattening the felt, and the other blocking the hat. To the left on the floor are various shaped hat blocks, on the back wall are hung three hats, and on the right is a table with a stack of finished hats. In the bottom half of the print are depicted a beaver, two imaginary beaver lodges, a camel and two hares (rabbits, one emerging from a hole). The hair of the animals represented was used in the making of the felt for the hats. The entire image is surrounded by an elaborate border.
