Inscription: mounted above the reproduction and under matting: A painting by A.H. Hider (1870-1952) of the Governor General's Body Guard / crossing the ice of Jackfish Bay on the north shore of Lake Sup[erior on the way / west to the North West Rebellion. The column is led by Col. G.T. Denison / and Lt. (Cornet) Merrit. The railway had not been completed around the bay / forcing the Body Guard to ride across the ice and remount the train on the / west shore and continue to Western Canada., Inscription: on a plaque below the image: PRESENTED TO / THE ROYAL BANK OF CANADA / IN APPRECIATION / THE GOVERNOR GENERAL'S HORSE GUARDS / 30 SEPTEMBER, 1994
