Television public affairs program. Documentary film on the liberal communism of Yugoslavia, which also explores Yugoslavian sympathy for Czechoslovakians who have recently been invaded by the Soviets, and the slow process of modernizing Yugoslavia's rural society. Includes interviews with Dimce Belovski (Assistant Secretary for Foreign Affairs), Professor Bogdan Denic (Sociologist), Dragoslav Rancic (Foreign Affairs Editor - Barba), two villagers and young students; excerpts from an instructional film on mobilisation which was broadcast throughout Yugoslavia in the aftermath of the invasion of Czechoslovakia; historical footage of Yugoslav leader, Josip Tito's underground action against Nazi Germany during World War II and Tito's resistance to Soviet domination under Stalin; scenes of Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia; on location shooting of the movie THE BATTLE ON THE RIVER NERETVA starring Yul Brynner who relates the history of the battle; and scenes of urban life in Belgrade and hardworking people of Yugoslavia's rural communities.
