Inscribed. Signed. Dated., Inscription: inscribed recto: in pencil, l.r. "J.H. Macnaughton (crossed out) / W.B. Lambe"; Verso: in pencil, "Mr. Lambe told me he made this view / from memory, many years later. The Henry / Birks' Plans (H.B. lived in the house) show / this drawing to contain some inaccuracies / The Birks Plans, made at my request, one in the McCord Museum. / W.D. Lighthall / Nor is it quite in accord with the view in / the Whiteside View of Montréal (litho, c. 1852). / which shows the property as it then appeared from / Mount Royal. / The Westerly Poplar and grove appear intended / to represent the knoll afterwards identified / as the Town Dump of Hochelega.".
